In UIBM, it is planned to organize a seminar for media education
Students of “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica (UIBM) will be able to attend the media education seminar that is planned to be organized by the OSCE – at the beginning of the academic year 2022/23. This was discussed on Tuesday in a meeting at UIBM, between the rector, prof.dr. Alush Musaj and Lekë Berishas from the Media Section in the Department of Democratization in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/OSCE).
Rector Musaj, who was accompanied at the meeting by the vice-rector for Teaching, Student Affairs and Quality Development, prof.ass.dr. Merita Shala as well as the vice-rector for International Cooperation and Scientific Research, prof.dr. Behxhet Shala, assessed that the media education seminar is a very good opportunity for students, but also for the academic staff. He emphasized that UIBM will create all the conditions for this seminar to take place as well as possible so that the students’ interest is as great as possible.
On the other hand, the official of the OSCE, Lekë Berisha, thanked the leaders of UIBM for their readiness in terms of cooperation and in this case also the organization of the seminar for media education. He said that these seminars are aimed at raising the students’ abilities to analyze, think and speak critically about the information they receive through the media. “Through presentations and activities that stimulate critical thinking and this is important so that young people are prepared to face the dangers posed by fake news, misinformation.”
The exact time of organizing this seminar will be decided later in consultation between UIBM and OSCE officials, where students and the entire university community will be notified in time. It is planned that 16 lectures will be organized within the seminar in a period of 4 weeks.
