Minister of Education visited “Isa Boletini” University
The Minister of Education and Science, Ramë Likaj and the chairwoman of the Committee for Education and Science, Valentina Bunjaku-Rexhepi, visited on Monday the University of Mitrovica “Isa Boletini” (UMIB). They were received in a meeting by the Rector of UMIB, Alush Musaj, with whom they discussed the challenges and achievements of this university.
Rector Musaj thanked the guests for the visit and informed them about the journey of higher education in Mitrovica. He stressed that despite the challenges, the long academic experience has made UMIB a success story in a relatively short time.
He also praised the correct approach of Minister Likaj, regarding the push for the approval in the Assembly of Kosovo of the Statute of UMIB, given that the Provisional Statute, based on which operates UMIB, but also some other public universities in Kosovo, have already become an obstacle for the development of these universities.
On the other hand, Minister Likaj announced that they have processed the draft statute in the government and after the usual procedures will pass to the relevant Committee of the Assembly of Kosovo. “We are working to create the best possible working conditions for these universities, so in this context we have pushed forward the approval of their statutes,” he said.
The Chairwoman of the Committee on Education and Science, Valentina Bunjaku-Rexhepi, expressed her conviction that soon these draft statutes of universities will be submitted to the Assembly for approval. “Initially these draft statutes will be analyzed in the Commission and then without wasting time they will be processed for approval in the Assembly”, she said.
Minister Likaj and the chairwoman of the Committee on Education and Science, accompanied by Rector Musaj, also visited the premises of the university campus, where they were amazed by the conditions offered to students and teachers.
