Let me first welcome you to the University of Mitrovica “Isa Boletini” and also to the “First International Multidisciplinary Conference on Geoscience”, organized by our university in cooperation with the Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals, Ministry of Economic Development and the Kosovo Geological Service. This is an event not only for the University of Mitrovica and Mitrovica, but for our country as a whole.

We are honored to be able to host such an event, which is included in the 2019 list of activities by the European Geological Survey. It means that the conference we are opening today is European in size and we are extremely happy about it.

Also the presence of scientists and researchers from different European countries, in addition to those from the region and the country, gives a meaningful meaning to this geoscience conference. Allow me, in this context, to thank each and every one of you here today.

Ladies and gentlemen, Kosovo and Mitrovica in particular because of the specifics, there is a great need for events of this character. Scientific events have been scarce and have been overshadowed by post-war political circumstances in our city, so this conference is good news.

It is good news as it has brought together scholars from various countries in our university, which despite challenges are becoming more and more consolidated. After traveling through makeshift homes and facilities, our University launched work on this new, highly modern and representative campus last year. We are now witnessing one
scientific organization like this one today, which is an encouragement for us all, as professors and students.

Distinguished, we have not had a better start to the new academic year than with an event like this, so let me once again thank you for your contribution and wish you a good job.
