The Conference of Rectors of Public Universities of the Republic of Kosovo will continue the efforts for the transformation of public universities into independent budget organizations, which are currently sub-programs of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation. This and other topics important for public universities were discussed at the last meeting of the Conference of Rectors, which was held on December 16, 2021 at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”.

It was announced that the request for transformation of public universities into independent budget organizations has been sent to the relevant committees of the Assembly of Kosovo (Committee on Budget, Labor and Transfer and Committee on Education, Science, Technology, Innovation, Culture, Sports and Youth). , but have not received a response. As a result, the decision was made to repeat the request to these commissions, hoping to get a positive response.

In this meeting was discussed about the preparations regarding the organization of the next Conference, which will be held on March 4, 2022 at the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica, where will be discussed the profiling of public universities. The rectors of public universities also agreed that in June 2022 at the University “Ukshin Hoti” in Prizren to organize another meeting, where the financial viability of universities will be discussed.
