The Conference on Higher Education in Kosovo was held with rector Musaj as a chariman
The rector of the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica, prof.dr. Alush Musaj, as the chairman of the Conference of Rectors, participated as a panelist on Tuesday in the Conference on Higher Education in Kosovo organized by Herasi. Part of the panel, which discussed aspects of higher education development in Kosovo were also the Deputy Minister of Education, Edona Maloku Bërdyna, the First Secretary of the Austrian Embassy, Martin Schaller and the director of the Heras program, Aqif Emurli.
Rector Musaj, said that the academic year 2021-2022 will be a year of serious challenges, which have already begun. “It is important that we begin to articulate these issues and challenges as an opportunity for the higher education space to evolve in new directions.”
According to him, higher education and universities have been pushed to respond to new situations over the past year and this year, including the organization of full-time distance learning [online] and sometimes combined. ensuring the quality of teaching and learning, especially in specific programs and profiles that have required the engagement of laboratories, etc. “Successful institutions will apply the lessons learned from last year to reposition themselves for the future. Issues to consider include rethinking campus space, considering the role of virtual learning, reviewing curricula with a focus on attracting the right students, shaping better citizens and professionals, more aware of their civic responsibilities and environmental, he said.
Rector Musaj stressed that the Covid-19 pandemic has shown the increased need for global cooperation in scientific research, innovation and capacity building. According to him, responses to global challenges such as this will be at the heart of future international cooperation, supported by the values of integrity and equal access that should also be reflected in the way higher education institutions are run and governed.
