The Faculty of Law at UIBM organized an open lecture with Professor Martin L. Camp
Today, an open lecture was held at the Faculty of Law with Professor Martin L. Camp, on the topic: “Ethical Obligations of Lawyers in the United States: Guardians of the Rule of Law,” — along with a presentation on scholarship opportunities for graduate studies in the USA.
Mr. Martin L. Camp is a professor of legal sciences and practice, as well as the associate dean for graduate and international programs at the “SMU Dedman School of Law” at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. During a lecture held for the students of the Faculty of Law at the “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica, Professor Camp shared his experience and knowledge on the importance of university studies at American universities, particularly master’s level studies, and the benefits of obtaining a master’s degree.
Among other things, he emphasized that a master’s degree makes you more competitive and offers opportunities that most people do not have. An LLM program can provide deeper and specialized knowledge that employers highly value when comparing candidates for a job position. According to him, the ability to study and work as a lawyer in a second language is another factor that distinguishes you and makes you valuable in the job market.
Professor Camp also emphasized the importance of studying in another country, as this experience provides cultural awareness that cannot be achieved otherwise. He mentioned that many LLM programs offer the opportunity to qualify for the bar exam in the U.S. and obtain a U.S. bar license, which can open many professional opportunities for graduates.
In this context, he also addressed the role of American and English corporations and law firms, which are among the largest in the world. He stressed that being bilingual can open doors for job opportunities in these companies. American corporations do business globally, and local, national, and international law firms need lawyers who understand English and the common law system, making this an important opportunity for students aiming to develop their careers at the international level.
In the end, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, thanked Professor Camp for the outstanding lecture he delivered at the faculty, emphasizing that he managed to answer and clarify for the students all the necessary elements for meeting the requirements to study at the “SMU Dedman School of Law” at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where Professor Camp is engaged. Additionally, the Dean highlighted the willingness to further deepen the collaboration between sister institutions.
