At the  University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica (UIBM) a Memorial Academy was held on Friday for prof. dr. Shefqet Rashanin, who passed away on 14.12.2022. Present at this academy were the heads of UIBM, teachers, friends, colleagues, former students and family members of the deceased.
On behalf of UIBM, the rector, Prof. Dr. Alush Musaj. “We have gathered here today to honor and commemorate the life and work of an outstanding personality of our city, of our country, an outstanding professor and intellectual. Professor Rashani has been one of the pillars of academic life in the city of miners, therefore as such he deserves the respect and honor of all without exception”.
Rector Musaj said that the deceased worked in different times and circumstances, which never wavered him from the right path, as a principled teacher, leaving a model for future generations. “Most of those who have passed through the university auditoriums in Mitrovica have in mind the dedication, discipline and tireless work of the professor, Rashani”.
He emphasized that the figure of the deceased professor was very dimensional. “In addition to being a teacher, he has held various leadership positions in the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy. He also held other leadership positions, where he left an extraordinary impression of a persistent and successful leader”.
The dean of the Faculty of Food Technology, Prof. Dr. Milaim Sadiku, spoke about the biography of Professor Rashani. He said that the deceased was a great worker, leaving 70 scientific papers and 4 university texts.
Dean Sadiku also listed his professional activities as a reviewer of university texts, as chairman of the committee for the defense of diploma topics, etc. He also highlighted the fact that Professor Rashani held various positions in the former Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy, being dean three times.
Doctor Faik Bllata has evoked memories of the deceased, of his journey since childhood and of his personality and character. While, on behalf of the family, the present was greeted by the daughter of Professor Rashani, Valentina, who thanked Rector Musaj and Dean Sadiku for the respect and organization of the memorial academy.
