Project Overview
WeB-Nimbus aims to address the digitalization gap in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Albania and Kosovo by implementing innovative educational activities. The project seeks to bridge the gap between industry needs and HEIs’ current capabilities, strengthening their capacity to respond to regional and national social and economic needs.
The project supports the development, piloting, and implementation of innovative curricula and pedagogies in Cloud and Edge Computing, including the creation of a joint MSc programme and a Learning Management System (LMS) hosting online specialised stand-alone courses. WeB-Nimbus also strengthens academic staff capacities through training and modern teaching methodologies to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant digital education.
WeB-Nimbus Kick-Off Meeting – Tirana
The WeB-Nimbus project officially started with a two-day Kick-Off Meeting held on 14–15 January 2025 in Tirana, Albania, hosted by the University of New York Tirana.
The meeting brought together representatives of all partner institutions to launch the project, clarify roles, and agree on the first steps for implementation. Discussions covered project objectives, expected results, work packages, timeline, quality assurance, dissemination, and sustainability.
WeB-Nimbus Study Visit in Athens, Greece
Partners participated in a study visit in Athens from 26 to 30 May 2025, hosted by the University of West Attica and Metropolitan College. The visit focused on innovative pedagogical approaches, experiential learning, outcome-based education, curriculum design, and work-based learning. The programme also included visits to academic facilities and cultural sites, strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange.
WeB-Nimbus Study Visit in Barcelona, Spain
Consortium partners participated in a multi-day study visit in Barcelona focused on artificial intelligence, digital education, and advanced computing technologies. Activities included sessions on self-regulated learning, inclusive AI-supported teaching, interactive digital tools, and the use of LLMs for assessment design, as well as visits to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and La Salle Campus Barcelona – Universitat Ramon Llull.
WeB-Nimbus Partners’ Coordination Meeting – December 8, 2025
The consortium held a coordination meeting to review progress, align upcoming activities, and plan future meetings, study visits, and capacity-building actions. The meeting reaffirmed partners’ commitment to the successful implementation of the WeB-Nimbus project.
General Objectives
- Improve the quality of higher education and enhance its relevance for the labour market and society.
- Improve students’ competences, skills, and employability through new, relevant, and innovative education programmes.
- Promote inclusive education, equality, equity, and non-discrimination in higher education.
- Enhance teaching and assessment mechanisms, innovation, knowledge base, and digital capacities.
- Increase the capacities of HEIs to modernise their education systems.
- Improve teacher training and continuous professional development.
- Stimulate institutional cooperation, capacity building, and exchange of good practices.
- Foster cooperation across different regions through joint initiatives.
Specific Objectives
- Reduce the gap in tailored HEI curricula in cloud technologies through postgraduate programmes aligned with latest advancements and industry needs.
- Enhance the digital readiness of ICT professionals using a future-proof approach that improves employability and reduces academic drop-outs.
- Strengthen academic capacities and professional development of HEI staff using best pedagogical methodologies.
- Strengthen academic–industry relations and promote industry-oriented learning, contributing to the reduction of brain drain.
- Facilitate cloud computing regulatory reform in Albania and Kosovo through analysis of existing frameworks and advocacy for tailored policy changes.
