Training on Human Rights and the Impact of Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Law

On October 27, 2025, the Faculty of Law hosted a training session titled “Human Rights and the Impact of Artificial Intelligence,” led by Ms. Bleona Ademi and organized by Reconciliation Empowering Communities (REC). The activity was held within the framework of the project “Youth for Social Change in Mitrovica,” an initiative aimed at empowering young people, fostering social debate, and promoting active civic participation.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, who expressed his gratitude to REC for organizing such an important training for students. He emphasized that human rights form the foundation upon which democratic societies and the rule of law are built, while developments in artificial intelligence present a range of new ethical and legal challenges.

“Artificial intelligence brings extraordinary benefits, yet it also raises new dilemmas related to privacy, algorithmic discrimination, and accountability. As the management of the Faculty of Law, we remain committed to creating spaces for knowledge, reflection, and critical debate on these issues — preparing a new generation of professionals dedicated to protecting human rights and human dignity in the digital age,” said Prof. Qerimi.

The training was structured into three thematic sessions:

  1. Introduction and training methodology
  2. Understanding and fundamental principles of human rights
  3. Social, economic, and cultural rights

Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in practical exercises and interactive discussions, encouraging in-depth reflection on the impact of technology on fundamental human rights.

At the conclusion of the activity, participating students were awarded certificates of attendance in recognition of their commitment and active engagement.

The training was also attended by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arbnor Ajeti, as well as Assist. Prof. Dr. Arta Dauti and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mimoza Aliu, who commended the organizers and students for addressing such a timely and socially significant topic.

The event was regarded as an important opportunity for the academic and professional development of students, highlighting their vital role in safeguarding human rights in an era of rapid technological transformation.
