At the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, Helvetas – through the DEMOS (Decentralisation and Municipal Support) Project – organized a thematic lecture with students of the Faculty of Law at UIBM University, within the course Local Governance.

During this lecture, delivered by Mr. Ertan Munoglu, a representative of Helvetas Kosovo and Project Manager of DEMOS, students had the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the use of data and municipal performance mechanisms to enhance transparency, decision-making, and accountability at the local level. Particular emphasis was placed on the Municipal Performance Management System and the Municipal Performance Grant as key instruments for improving local governance in Kosovo.

The lecture was delivered in an interactive format and served as an open platform for discussion, linking theoretical concepts of local governance with concrete experiences and practical examples drawn from the DEMOS project’s work with municipalities across Kosovo.

The DEMOS Project is co-financed by the European Union, Switzerland, and Sweden, and is implemented by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation Kosovo.

At the conclusion of the lecture, Professor Zahir Çerkini, who hosted and organized the event in cooperation with representatives of the DEMOS Project, thanked the participants for their engagement and interest, while also expressing readiness to continue the collaboration and to organize a follow-up discussion with students at the beginning of 2026.
