The Advisory Body of the Faculty of Law held its regular meeting
The Advisory Body of the Faculty of Law, under the leadership of its Chair, Mr. Shpëtim Peci, Prosecutor at the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, and with the support of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, held its regular meeting.
The meeting was also attended by external members of the Advisory Body, including attorneys Mr. Besim Parduzi and Mr. Armend Shkoza from the Kosovo Chamber of Advocates, as well as Mr. Nebi Halili, a representative of the Kosovo Correctional Service. From the Faculty of Law, in addition to Dean Qerimi, the following officials were present: Vice Deans Prof. Assoc. Dr. Arta Dauti, Vice Dean for Teaching; Prof. Assoc. Dr. Arbnor Ajeti, Vice Dean for International Relations and Quality; Head of Department Prof. Assoc. Dr. Besnik Murati; and Prof. Ass. Dr. Mimoza Aliu, representative of the Faculty of Law in the UIBM Senate.
During the meeting, Dean Qerimi informed Chair Peci and the members of the Advisory Body about the recent achievements of the Faculty of Law, highlighting the successful completion of the academic semester. He also mentioned the visit of a professor from the Faculty of Law at Drake University in the United States, as well as the upcoming visit of an international visiting professor. Furthermore, the Dean informed the participants about the reaccreditation process of the study program, which is expected to take place during the coming year.
Subsequently, the Chair of the Advisory Body, Mr. Shpëtim Peci, opened the discussion regarding the recommendations of this body for their inclusion in the Self-Evaluation Report, which is currently in the drafting process for the purpose of program reaccreditation. The main recommendation, initiated by Advisory Body member Mr. Armend Shkoza, concerning the enrichment of the curriculum with additional civil law courses, received full support from all participants, particularly from the civil law professors representing the Faculty at this meeting.
The professors addressed this topic in detail, presenting the civil law subjects included in the curriculum as well as the relevant chapters covered through the syllabi. They committed to contributing, at the next meeting of the Working Group for drafting the Self-Evaluation Report, to the concrete implementation of the recommendations arising from this meeting.
Additionally, requests were raised for intensifying lectures delivered by experts from the justice system, as well as for initiating memoranda of cooperation with local and governmental administration institutions, with the aim of exchanging professional and academic experiences.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dean Qerimi thanked the Chair of the Advisory Body for leading the meeting, as well as all members for their contributions, emphasizing his readiness to convene and organize future meetings of this body for any necessary proposals.
