At the Faculty of Law, a Student Roundtable was held on the topic: “The Role of the UN in Peace and Human Rights.”

Mitrovica, October 21, 2025 – Today, in the premises of the Faculty of Law at “Isa Boletini” University – Mitrovica, a Student Roundtable was held on the topic: “The Role of the UN in Peace and Human Rights”, organized by students of the Faculty of Law with the support of the Faculty Management.

The aim of this roundtable was to encourage academic debate on the role and impact of the United Nations in promoting and maintaining peace, as well as in protecting human rights at both global and local levels. Additionally, it sought to strengthen student engagement in discussions related to international justice and human rights law.

The event opened with a welcoming speech by Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, Dean of the Faculty of Law, who emphasized the importance of active student participation in academic activities that contribute to the development of critical thinking and professional skills.

A special contribution to the roundtable was made by LL.M Xhemajl Veliqi, PhD (c), who congratulated the organizers on their initiative and highlighted the essential role of the UN in maintaining peace and securing fundamental human rights.

Ms. Liridona Hyseni, Chair of the Law Faculty Students’ Council, also spoke, underlining the importance of such activities in bridging theory and practice, as well as in building a solid foundation for the professional development of students.

As part of the roundtable, Adis Zeqiri, a student at the Faculty of Law, delivered a detailed presentation on the topic, analyzing from a legal perspective the UN’s interventions, peacekeeping missions, and its long-term impact on maintaining stability and human rights.

The roundtable was professionally moderated by Maida Kabashi, a student at the Faculty of Law, who ensured a smooth and dynamic flow of discussions.

At the conclusion of the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the participants for their contributions, while the student organizing panel presented a special token of appreciation to Dean Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi for his continued support of student initiatives.

This event marked an important step in advancing academic discourse at the Faculty of Law, reinforcing the role of students in addressing globally significant topics through legal and academic perspectives.
