The formal welcome ceremony for first-year students at the Faculty of Law

Today, at the premises of the Faculty of Law, the formal welcome ceremony for first-year students was held, marking the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year.

The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. dr. Islam Qerimi, who, on behalf of the management, academic, and administrative staff, extended a warm welcome to the students, emphasizing the rich tradition and high academic values of the institution.

In his address, Dean Qerimi stressed that choosing to study law is more than just an academic decision – it is a moral commitment to justice, truth, and the rule of law. He assured the students that the Faculty of Law will offer them a quality education, a challenging yet supportive academic environment, and opportunities to engage in research activities, legal debates, professional practice, and international cooperation.

Furthermore, the Dean encouraged students to be active, curious, and involved in student life, urging them not to hesitate to ask questions, seek help when needed, and push the boundaries of knowledge. According to him, success should not be measured solely by grades, but by personal, civic, and professional growth. He concluded by congratulating the students on their courage and motivation in choosing this field of study.

Following the Dean’s remarks, Prof. Ass. Dr. Zahir Çerkini addressed the students, encouraging them to remain active and committed throughout their studies in order to build a solid foundation for their future legal careers – beyond the mere attainment of a diploma.

Subsequently, the University Ombudsman, Ass. LLM Xhemajl Veliqi, PhD (c), informed students about the normative acts of the Faculty and the University, introducing them to their rights and responsibilities during their academic journey.

Finally, the student coordinators introduced the students to the Faculty’s facilities, including lecture and seminar halls, the moot courtrooms, group workspaces, the library, and the administrative offices.
