On February 21, 2026, a team of students from the Faculty of Mechanical and Computer Engineering participated in the fifth edition of the International Cybersecurity Defense Challenge 2026 (ICDC 2026). The competition was organized by the University of Prishtina in collaboration with Iowa State University and the Iowa National Guard and simulated real-time scenarios of defending digital infrastructure against cyberattacks.

The team consisted of Gentian Voca, Erza Osmani, Flutura Hyseni, and Valdrin Bislimi, under the mentorship of Prof. Agon Bajgora. During the eight-hour competition, the students faced challenges including server defense, forensic analysis, detection of unauthorized intrusions, and restoration of compromised services.

Participation in this competition provided valuable practical experience and demonstrates UIBM’s commitment to developing students’ skills in the field of cybersecurity.
