The Erasmus+ project “Leadership Capacities Development in Higher Education across Albania and Kosovo” has officially commenced.
The implementation of the Erasmus+ project titled “Development of Leadership Capacities in Higher Education in Albania and Kosovo” officially began on December 1, 2024. This project aims to enhance leadership capabilities within higher education institutions in Albania and Kosovo. The project coordinator for UIBM is Associate Professor Merita Shala.
The project’s aim is to strengthen governance, strategic planning and management in Albanian and Kosovan universities, in order to support reform and continued modernization of their HE sectors through increases in leadership and management capacity and capability.
The project has six objectives:
- Establish where best practice in EU partner universities on the design and delivery of leadership development programmes can be applied to increase the leadership and management capacity of Albanian and Kosovan universities;
- Create a leadership development programme focused on governance, strategic planning and management, that is appropriate for delivery in Albanian and Kosovan universities;
- Train the staff of Albanian and Kosovan universities in the delivery of the leadership development programme;
- Create an infrastructure to support and sustain the new national leadership development center and its associated programme;
- Pilot new leadership development programme with Albanian and Kosovan universities;
- Disseminate the leadership development programme and findings, after their implementation, for higher education across Albanian and Kosovan universities, the EU, and internationally.
As a result of meeting the project’s aim and objectives, Albanian and Kosovan partner universities will have established a new leadership development programme for their staff. The programme will focus on developing the qualities and skills in the competency framework adopted for higher education leaders.
