Mock trial by the students of the Faculty of Law
On Wednesday, at the premises of the Faculty of Law of “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica (UIBM), a mock trial was held with the active participation of two groups of students, in which a case from the field of criminal law was addressed. This activity was organized by the Faculty of Law, in cooperation with representatives from justice institutions in Kosovo – including judges, prosecutors, and lawyers – while members of the Faculty’s management, academic staff, and students were also present.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, thanked the co-organizers and participants, emphasizing the importance of such activities in the professional development of students. “The Faculty of Law is taking important steps toward a comprehensive reform of its study programs, with the aim of offering academic qualifications and professional training in line with contemporary standards of higher education,” he stated. He added that mock trials have now become a well-established tradition of the Faculty, and that the achievements of their students have been recognized even in competitions outside the University, where they have often secured top positions.
After the conclusion of the mock trial, the evaluation panel—composed of Shpëtim Peci (Prosecutor at the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica), Kreshnik Kaçiu (Judge at the Basic Court in Pristina), and Bahtir Troshupa (Lawyer)—announced the winners of the activity, both at the group level and for individual roles. The panel congratulated the students for the knowledge and skills demonstrated in the field of criminal and procedural law.
In conclusion, the evaluation panel awarded certificates and acknowledgments to the winners, while the panel members themselves were also honored with tokens of appreciation by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, for their contribution to this educational and professional activity.
A special acknowledgment was also presented to Assistant LL.M. Xhemajl Veliqi, PhD ©, in recognition of his continuous contribution to the development of students’ professional skills, through his support and guidance in the practical demonstration of cases led by the students themselves.
