As part of the curriculum for the courses Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship, students from the Management and Entrepreneurship specialization at the Faculty of Economics, “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica, conducted a study visit to the Down Syndrome Kosova Association (DSK) – Mitrovica branch.

They were warmly welcomed by Mr. Xhenis Beqiri, Service Center Manager, and Ms. Erza Zasella Gjosha, Head of Services. During the visit, the staff presented the work of DSK in the Mitrovica region, focusing on the organization’s strategic objectives:

1. Advocating for the realization of the rights of persons with Down Syndrome (DS).
2. Strengthening DSK’s capacity to provide sustainable services.
3. Developing social entrepreneurship programs within DSK.

Students visited:

• Punëtorinë e Mjaltës “Amë”
• Punëtorinë e Kartolinave
• Kafeterinë X21, where a person with Down Syndrome and a family member of a person with the syndrome are employed.

The conversation with DSK staff took place while enjoying the most delicious coffee in the city at Kafeteria X21, further reinforcing the spirit of cooperation and social inclusion. The visit gave students valuable insight into real-life examples of social entrepreneurship and the inclusion of marginalized groups in the labor market. As a result of successful collaboration of the Association with public institutions and the private sector, 8 individuals with Down Syndrome have been employed in the Mitrovica region—a meaningful achievement for the community.
