In the subject of criminalistics, one of the main objectives is for students to gain practical skills and understand the importance of crime detection and investigation techniques. Practical activities are essential as they provide an opportunity for students to apply their theoretical knowledge to real or simulated cases, thereby learning how to use various tools and methods to solve crimes. Such an activity was organized at the Faculty of Law of the “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica, where criminalistics students demonstrated their practical skills through simulated events.

During this activity, students, under the guidance of the course professor, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, had the opportunity to work on two concrete cases: one related to murder and another concerning public trafficking. This practical approach aims to prepare students to face various situations that may arise in criminal investigations and to familiarize them with the complex processes of investigation and evidence analysis.

Specifically, the students were divided into investigative groups, with each group being responsible for collecting traces and evidence from the crime scene. This is a crucial step in the crime-solving process, as gathering and analyzing evidence is essential for helping identify the perpetrator and enabling the legal procedure to move forward. Part of this activity also involved drafting the minutes, which is a key document reflecting every step taken during the investigation and can be used in legal proceedings.

After the students had collected all the evidence and prepared the minutes, they submitted them for further procedures to the state prosecutor. This is a very important step, as the prosecutor will assess the evidence and decide on the next steps in the investigation, thus allowing justice to be served. This process reflects a common practice in criminalistics, where collaboration between investigators, prosecutors, and judges is essential for solving criminal cases.

This activity provides students with the opportunity to acquire important skills such as evidence analysis, information management, and collaboration with other groups, all of which are essential for a successful investigation. Additionally, students are able to appreciate the importance of accuracy and attention to detail at every step of the procedure, as any mistake in evidence collection can impact the outcomes of the investigation and lead to judicial errors. Furthermore, this activity serves as an excellent opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of the dynamics of the criminal justice system and develop the necessary skills to face the challenges of the criminalistics profession. Practical work in this field is crucial for shaping a new generation of professionals who will contribute to strengthening the rule of law and justice in our society.
