The Faculty of Law Organized an Academic Lecture with Associate Professor Dr. Orhan Çeku
On 20 May 2026, the Faculty of Law organized a special academic lecture within the course “International Human Rights Law”, taught by Associate Professor Dr. Besnik Murati.
As part of this academic activity, the invited lecturer was Associate Professor Dr. Orhan Çeku, who addressed the topic: “Genocide – Definition and Forms of Its Commission”.
During the lecture, the legal and academic aspects of the concept of genocide were examined in detail, including its definition under international legal instruments, the constituent elements of this international crime, as well as the forms and methods of its manifestation in contemporary international practice.
Prof. Çeku emphasized the importance of international criminal law and international mechanisms in the prevention and punishment of genocide crimes, offering an in-depth analysis of the historical and legal development of this notion. Furthermore, an interactive discussion was held with students regarding the legal and practical challenges involved in identifying and addressing cases of genocide at the international level.
