The University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica (UIBM) is pleased to announce that Professor Ellen L. Yee from Drake University School of Law in the United States has been selected to receive a prestigious Fulbright Specialist Award to lead a major development project within the UIBM Faculty of Law. Supported by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright Specialist Program fosters knowledge exchange, capacity building, and long-term academic partnerships worldwide.

The project, titled “Internationalizing UIBM’s Legal Curriculum for Impact,” aims to modernize and internationalize the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) curriculum in alignment with European and global standards. Its core objectives include:

• integrating international and comparative legal content across core and elective courses;
• strengthening faculty capabilities in modern and hybrid teaching methodologies;
• revising selected syllabi and creating a model internationalized course;
• establishing sustainable academic resources to support accreditation and long-term curriculum enhancement.

Prof. Ellen L. Yee is Professor of Law and Director of International Programs at Drake University Law School. She has extensive international experience developing and leading legal education programs across multiple regions of the world. Her expertise includes:

• international and transnational law,
• legal ethics and professional responsibility,
• curriculum design and academic reform,
• international academic partnerships and exchanges.

The project is coordinated by Prof.ass.dr. Zahir Çerkini, who designed the proposal, led the application, and will oversee all implementation phases at UIBM. He emphasizes the strategic importance of the initiative:

Professor Yee will conduct a four-week in-person engagement at UIBM from 13.12.2025 till 16.01.2026, including faculty workshops, syllabus redesign consultations, and strategic planning meetings with academic and administrative staff.
