The Faculty of Law of the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica hosted an academic workshop delivered by the German professor Anja Schiemann on the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Teaching.” The workshop addressed current and highly relevant issues related to the use of artificial intelligence in the university teaching process.

During the workshop, Professor Schiemann presented and discussed with participants several challenges and opportunities arising from the use of artificial intelligence in higher education. In particular, she addressed practical questions and dilemmas faced today by both professors and students, such as: which tools can be used to identify work produced with artificial intelligence, when the use of AI may constitute an attempt at academic deception, and how artificial intelligence can be used constructively for lecture preparation and the development of supportive teaching materials.

A special part of the workshop was dedicated to the issue of plagiarism and the identification of AI-generated work, where different approaches and tools for safeguarding academic integrity in higher education institutions were discussed. The workshop also explored practical ways in which artificial intelligence can be integrated into the teaching process to assist professors in preparing lectures, developing teaching materials, and creating additional resources for students.

The event was attended by the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Edita Bekteshi, the management of the Faculty of Law, academic staff, and a considerable number of students. The workshop was followed with great interest and was characterized by fruitful academic discussions. Notable contributions were made by Prof. Dr. Zahir Çerkini, Vice-Rector Edita Bekteshi, and the student Ereza Mikushnica, who raised important perspectives regarding the use of artificial intelligence in higher education.

At the conclusion of Professor Schiemann’s visit to the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica, Vice-Rector Edita Bekteshi and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, presented her with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her valuable contribution to the joint lectures delivered together with Professor Islam Qerimi and for organizing and conducting the workshop on the use of artificial intelligence in teaching.

This activity represents an important step in strengthening international academic cooperation and advancing contemporary discussions on the use of new technologies in higher education.
