The Faculty of Law of “Isa Boletini” University of Mitrovica (UIBM) had the honor and academic responsibility to take part in the co-organization of the Congress of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts, which, as in the previous year, was held at the State University of Tetova (UT).

This congress brought together scholars, academics, and experts from various fields to discuss a topic of great importance and relevance for our region:
“The Process of Integration of the Western Balkan Countries into the European Union: Legal Expectations versus Political Reality.”

This collaboration clearly demonstrates the commitment of the Faculty of Law of UIBM to promoting inter-university academic cooperation, exchange of ideas, and the advancement of scientific research that contributes to strengthening regional and European dialogue.

During the opening ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at UIBM, Prof. Dr. Islam Qerimi, expressed that he felt privileged by the opportunity to participate in this academic forum, which brings together 56 scientific papers in the field of law from various faculties across the region. He emphasized that these contributions will significantly enhance research quality and enrich both academic and societal debate.

Among other points, Prof. Dr. Qerimi stated:

“This topic is essential for our region because European integration is not merely a political objective, but a profound process of legal, institutional, and social transformation. This is precisely where the role of academia becomes crucial — in the critical analysis of reforms, in fostering independent legal thought, and in shaping new generations of jurists who will lead these processes with integrity and professionalism.”

Through the active participation of its five academic staff members, the Faculty of Law of UIBM reaffirms its mission to build bridges of cooperation among academic institutions, to promote critical analysis of legal and political processes that accompany the integration of Western Balkan countries into the European Union, and to strengthen the role of legal science in the democratic and institutional development of the region.

This event further consolidates the role of “Isa Boletini” University of Mitrovica as a modern center of knowledge and interdisciplinary dialogue, dedicated to European values and the sustainable academic and social development of our society.

At the conclusion of the event, Dean Qerimi expressed his sincere gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Safet Emruli, for his warm hospitality and for enabling the successful realization of this important scientific and research-oriented activity for all participants.

It is worth mentioning that the Rector of UIBM, Prof. Dr. Nurten Deva, also attended the opening ceremony of this congress.
